Currumundi Lake

If you’re looking for a great place to take the kids with a stretch of calm water with golden sand take a short trip to Currumundi Lake.

The lake has it all for families – shady trees which hang over the sandy beach, calm and mostly shallow water for paddling in, and a vast expanse of sand for digging in.

Here you can safely undertake all types of water activities such as rowing boats, canoeing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and swimming. If you don’t have your own watercraft, you can hire kayaks and stand up paddle boards from Kite Thrills, a surf shop situated right on the beach front. Also paddlers of all abilities can follow the Currimundi Lake Canoe Trail for a peaceful paddle up the lake.

The lake is a popular fishing spot too, and you may be lucky enough to snag a whiting or bream. Bring a yabby pump to catch fresh bait. The kids will enjoy catching sand, mud and hermit crabs and small fish in nets and buckets.

Currumundi Lake can be accessed via Hume Parade, Currimundi which is only 5.5 Kms from Caloundra.
